The Inspire Reading challenge

The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for relaxation and pleasure in children, and to enable them to experience the joys of quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each child to read, to read more and to read more widely.

Inspire’s Reading Challenge is open to all children who attend Before School Care and/or After School Care at an Inspire Centre in the Northern Rivers Region.

Inspire’s Reading Challenge will run for 3 weeks starting on Monday 29 August in week 7 until Monday 19 September in week 10 of the school term. There are three different categories divided based on the children’s’ year group. Each category has their own reading challenge to complete!

Each book your child reads must be listed on their reading record and signed by an adult before it is handed in at the end of the challenge.

Take-home Reading Challenge Packs containing the reading log will be available a the Centres from Monday 29th August.

The Kindy - Year 2 Reading Challenge

Must read minimum 9 books (including at least two books from the Inspire Kindy - Year 2 Book List)
You can read books on your own, read books with someone else, or someone can read them to you
If you can read simple chapter books on your own, you can attempt the Year 3 - Year 4 challenge

The Year 3 - Year 4 Reading Challenge

Must read minimum 7 books (including at least one books from the Inspire Year 3 - Year 4 Book List)
You must read books on your own, but someone can help you choose them

The Year 5 - Year 6 Reading Challenge

Must read minimum 5 books (including at least one books from the Inspire Year 5 - Year 6 Book List)
You must read books on your own, but someone can help you choose them
