The Beast Badge challenges are designed to test and encourage the FIVE tenants of Taekwondo which are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. These challenges all vary in difficulty and will test young Taekwondo practitioners both physically and mentally.
Once the children have successfully completed a challenge, a pin in earned is earned to celebrate the adversity they have just overcome and is marked with the named beast of the challenge.
This term our childREN were working towards the Fox badge.
The Fox Badge is a physical challenge to assess the flexibility of our young martial artists. In Taekwondo, flexibility is a core component to success, especially in the lower limbs! Flexibility has many benefits in Taekwondo (and in life) and will provide our children with an increased passive range of motion, a reduced likelihood of injury, and an improved efficiency of movement.
For this challenge the children were asked to perform a Side/Straddle Split and a Front Split on both sides for 10 seconds each.
